The trip was made on the 11th to the 13th of December. Before knowing about the trip I was really disappointed at myself because I did not go on holiday for the whole year and the year was already ending so I was feeling very gutted. I made plans but it always got cancelled and never worked out. But on the last month of 2014 Jet gifted me a ticket and accommodation to Amsterdam which made me extremely happy OBVIOUSLY; and I was ever so much thankful!
We got to the airport pretty early so we had time to eat breakfast. The photo qualities are a bit bleh because all we brought with us was our iphones lol, next time I promise to bring my camera.
The plane we got on was delayed for a while due to the strong wind in Amsterdam so we were stuck in the plane for almost an hour, 42 mins to be exact. Anyway we got to Amsterdam safely within an hour and a half. The pilot said he took a shortcut to make it up to the schedule lol.
Our accommodation was Ibis style hotel based in Stadhouderskade. We arrived earlier than the check in time but they had a room available for us anyway and from then on they were on my good book list already. Their staff were very friendly and when we needed a plug for charging, they generously lent us the plug with no extra fee.
These photo's are not mine, they are from booking.com
The hotel was nicely decorated and it is actually supposed to be a budget hotel, but it was very nice for the price. We had free breakfast every morning and had no disturbance whilst on our stay. Probably the only downfall it has are the stairs, it was a bit scary to step down them as they were quite steep and the stairs platform were not that wide.
As soon as we got there, we went to Lidl's to buy some munchies, it was literally just 3-5 mins walk from the hotel. Then we went to Dam to explore, we even walked through the red district and saw the girls through the window while walking past.
We also went on a boat cruise around the lake and learned the brief Amsterdam history.
The ride estimated from 50 mins to over an hour. The buildings they had were beautifully designed and what fascinated me the most was the boat houses. There were small and massive ones, you can actually see the people inside the boat houses having dinner, slouching on their couch watching the TV, pretty much their lifestyle and I found it so cute; it's like looking through little doll houses.
Our trip ended so swiftly and I had an amazing time. After 2 nights and 3 days, we head back to the airport to go back to England.
The sky looked so mesmerizing! THANK YOU FOR THE TRIP AND MEMORIES :)
